For me with cross stitching, it is admiring the neat rows of stitches and the way those final infuriating back stitches really finish off the look. However, as I watch other people cross stitch and move further into more detailed work myself, I\u2019m realizing that not everyone cross stitches the same way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;\u201cWhat? Cross stitching is one of the most basic stitches!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yes, but there are different ways of doing it\u2014and no, most of them do not work very well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today I want to share with you several cross stitching tips that I have discovered work best in a project, both for beginners and the more advanced!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-color wp-block-heading\" style=\"color:#0d7008\">1. It seems very basic, but I often see this problem in projects. Crossing them in the same direction (whether it be left or right) gives a much more finished appearance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-color wp-block-heading\" style=\"color:#0d7008\">2. Cross Stitch in Rows Rather than in Single Stitches<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>By rows, I mean going in one direction making half of your cross stitches, then returning along the same row completing the stitch to make a full cross.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/mydogbuddy.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/court-uJ4twg_-7gA-unsplash-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-162\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mydogbuddy.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/court-uJ4twg_-7gA-unsplash-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/mydogbuddy.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/court-uJ4twg_-7gA-unsplash-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/mydogbuddy.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/court-uJ4twg_-7gA-unsplash-1152x1536.jpg 1152w, https:\/\/mydogbuddy.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/court-uJ4twg_-7gA-unsplash-scaled.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><figcaption>Cross Stitching in Rows- Photo used with permission from Court on Unsplash<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I haven\u2019t always done this. It is sooo tempting to just finish stitches as you go rather than leaving them half done as you go to the end of the row and return again. I have given in to this inclination more than once, and although the project will still turn out correctly (if you follow tip #1 \ud83d\ude09) it\u2019s better to stitch in rows- and here\u2019s why.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you go full cross stitch by cross stitch, your stitches won\u2019t look as cohesive. They\u2019ll tend to look just like what they are\u2014single stitches. Your project will also lay much flatter and be easier to frame later on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/mydogbuddy.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/IMG_0416-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-166\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mydogbuddy.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/IMG_0416-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/mydogbuddy.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/IMG_0416-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/mydogbuddy.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/IMG_0416-1152x1536.jpg 1152w, https:\/\/mydogbuddy.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/IMG_0416-scaled.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>One way to make the back of your project neater is not stretching your thread too far across the back.
